Have Windows XP. The pc speakers are plugged into my tower. One will play everything. The other will only play dings and bells, you know, the normal computer sounds. It will not play music.

Yes, I have checked the balance. That was set correctly. I've tried unplugging both of the speakers and replugging them, then rebooting the computer. That didn't work either.

Are you familar with volume control? You may have your balance set differently. Look for a small speaker icon in the lower right corner next to your clock. Right click on it and go to "Open Volume Control".

Look at your balance(s) and make sure they are all in the middle.

You have probably balanced most of the sounds to one speaker.
start>control panel>sound, speach...>change speaker settings>where it says sound playback click volume> where it says balance, the arrows should be in the middle.
