It doesn't get any better than the classics:

Jane Eyre
Wuthering Heights
Pride and Prejudice
Northanger Abbey.

My favourite would have to be Northanger Abbey as the main heroine is about 17, which was how old I was when I read it.

Anything by the first modern novel/romance novel writer - Jane Austen. Well five of them - Mansfield Park is rather adult in tone.

Sense and Sensibility
Pride and Prejudice
Emma
Persuasion
Northanger Abbey (a farce on Gothic novels)

I love the Redemption series by Karen Kingsbury. They are all about this one family which continues in a second series called The Firstborn series. I just couldn't put them down. I hope you will atleast try reading one of them.

I like Suzanne's Diary to Nicholas. It is a tearjerker though. It is one of my favorites maybe you will enjoy it as well.

I see someone mentioned the Pilot's Wife...that one is good too.
