Check out the requirements for running for political office in your state. Contact the party you wish to represent in that state. Submit your paperwork, and pay whatever fees are necessary....then best of luck

Run for office and get elected.

I almost became a US Representative for Colorado. The incumbent announced his retirement, so I decided to see if I could really get on the ballot.
I went through all the steps and was approved. All I had to do was go down and fill out the acceptance and pay the fee. ($100 IIRC). I decided that I didn't really want to run, so I withdrew.

Turns out I would have been unopposed! neither party got a guy in there in time. Had to have a special election to fill the spot. D'OH!

I would have been the only open atheist in Congress. For 1 term at least.

• the house of representatives shall be composed of members chosed every second year by the people of several states. Each state has at least one representatives
• senator are elected by popular vote every 6 years and 3/1 of seats chosen every 2 years. Each state has 2 senators

Yup, that's all it takes; be of the required minimum age, fufill the residency requirements (apparently zero in NY), pay the fees, and run for the office.

1st run for some kind of local office like member of the school board, or city mayor
