I have power plenty of ink and the computer recognises it. When I send a document the preview comes up on the screen, the paper feeds and the pinting heads traverse, but no print on the paper. The printer is about 2 years old and has had very little use. I have cleaned the heads many times
Is the printer due for the tip?
your help will be appreciated

if the printer has been sitting for quite some time, more specifically if the same ink cartridges have been in it for some time, most likely, the ink has dried in the print heads and you're in for alot of fun trying to get them cleaned... its out of warranty so most likely anything you have done to get it fixed will cost a fortune... may just be time for a new printer... might I suggest HP... they have FAR (make that vastly) fewer problems of this sort

I had the same problems with the C82 and C86 models (got the C82 when I contacted Epson for support and they shipped that as the replacement). While I liked the quality of the prints, the reliability of the printer was pretty poor. Buying new cartridges did not help. I'd recommend calling the Epson support phone and ask if they can walk you through a troubleshooting sequence. Even if your printer is out of warranty, ask if they can help you diagnose the problem. The help support person was very helpful and even replaced the printer (which is how I got the C86) outside the warranty. If they offer for you to send it in for repair at your cost, keep in mind that a new printer is often less than the repair and shipping cost.

I'm using a HP 5440 DeskJet now and it seems to be more reliable. I'd recommend staying away from Lexmarks if you intend to replace. The few friends I know that have had them have all had problems (although these were all several years ago and most have moved to other brands since then). My employer uses mostly Lexmark business printers (switched from HP) but I see quite a few of them with a repair person regularly at them when I walk by.

I think Epson really locked down the cartridges so they can ensure that you aren't using refilled cartridges too. Have you ever noticed that the printer software says a cartridge is empty but when you remove it you can shake it and still find a little ink? As I said before, the quality of the prints from Epson were very good but the reliability of the printers was less than desirable.
