Yes....

and I have a friend who's kids--one boy & one girl-- have straight hair that she cut for years...

She'd put the child sitting in front of her in the bathtub,

give her/him something new to play with (car keys are popular)

wet the hair well, comb it smooth from the crown down toward the face, ears, neck... then trim all around the edge to a bob-length.

(This was when little boys wore those cute bowl cuts.)

Rinse the hair off and out you go....always looked nice & few tears...

Saved a bundle of money, too...

For straight bangs: Take a piece of Scotch tape and tape across the bangs with the upper edge at the length you want.

Cut straight across using the tape as a guide: it comes off with all the cut hair stuck to it and the kid loves not having it fall in her eyes.

And remember: if you mess up, buy the child a cute hat and tell her/him it will grow back fast....which is true!

Good luck & have fun..

I do even worse I cut my bf's hair and have no idea what I am doing- I am just waiting for the day he goes nuts when I mess it up too bad.

He just doesn't like waiting in line for a haircut for 20 minutes then sitting in the chair for an hour- some people who are quallified just take too long for a fade. they really aren't that hard to do

I have a boy and I have tried to cut his hair but I'm not good with the clippers so after some mishaps I stick to a cheap salon.

Yep, cut his ear 3 times with the clippers/buzzer... He may need therapy when he's older because of this... lol

Start when they are real young and don't know any better if you screw up. Learning to cut hair is about as difficult as tying ones shoes...once you learn, it's easy-peezy-japaneezy...
