you could do the training online, but before you do i suggest you try doing the comptia network+, just to get into the know of networking.

First you have to know what lies ahead of you. meaning what will be the in thing next year in networking. what you need to be looking at.... for the future and your future,,,

First thing is the networking operating systems
what is in,
what is out.
what is coming in
what is going out

you can wast a lot of time and money, if you don't do your own research, studying Microsoft, and Novell networking will cost you, for the home training courses, so is there another way?

The answer is "YES"
Does it cost "No"
What is it "Linux"

if you do your Research you will find that the internet is run off Linux, most big businesses use Linux for there Network systems why?
it is Free
it is Secure
It is Safe

Who uses Linux for their Network Servers?
every computer manufactures IBM, Dell, HP, Compaq, just to name a few.

you can download any version of Linux for free, you can install that copy on as many computers as you like, you will get all the networking software packages with it, for mail servers, web servers every server type. you can get all the how to networking tutorials free,
try the links below

for your research try this

dell+linux
ibm+linua
intel+linux
hp+linux

Networking is as easy or as difficult as you want to make it (how much do you want to know? The hole goes VERY deep!)
Try CBT Nuggets for Video's:

Or this for IP Addressing & Subnetting:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/atm/l2020/2020r21x/planning/appndxa.htm

Or just buy yourself a router & set it up with a static IP....do that & you've 'got' basic networking.

Good luck!
