Faith, you need it in this word, I believe that prayers are always answered, it is not always the answer we want, but they are always answered.

Trust, if you don't have this, your marriage will NEVER work.
Without trust your life can be miserable.

Love, you can love someone, but not be in love with them. Love is stronger than you think, we will do strange things for love.

Security in a place to live and money to live on. No one like to worry about the basics.

Support of family and friends, life can be hard and you need them to lift you up in bad times and help celebrate in the good times.

Good Luck, I am fortunate to have a Happy Marriage of 10 years. There have been times when it would have been easy to just throw in the towel, but much more gratifying to work things out. Don't stress the small stuff: dirty socks on the floor, dishes left on the counter...just be thankful the person is there do to it.

Honesty: I find that the best relationships are the ones without lies
Commitment: no sense in wasting time with the wrong person
Happiness: your spouse should make you feel special, care for you, ect.
Common life goals: example: things might get hairy if he wants kids and you don't or vice versa
Love: because I really don't think any marriage can exist without it if you want it to survive.

I guess all those things keep my marriage together. My husband and I have similar interests and we both know what we want out of life. We look out for the other- emotionally and financially (we're gonna make sacrafices since we are both finishing college). We keep things interesting, by just taking off for a weekend trip. I guess that's the basis of our marriage. Plus we're each others best friend.
