Rabbit at rest noticed a wolf running with
constant speed 20 m/s at distance 20 m.

What must be constant acceleration of the
rabbit to escape from the wolf?

the wolf will take 1 sec to reach the rabbit so the rabit has to accelerate more than 20 m/s toescape the wolf
isnt 20 m/s a bit too fast !!!!!!!!!!

Distance = headstart - vwolf * t + 1/2 a t^2.

This is a quadratic equation. To find where the quadratic equation does or does not have a solution (which would mean rabbit gets eaten), find where the descriminant (b^2 - 4ac) of the quadratic equation is zero.

(vwolf)^2 - 4 * headstart * a/2 = 0

a = (vwolf)^2 / (2 headstart)

So Scythian's answer looks correct although I don't understand the reasoning.

Since the rabbit is already twice as far away from the wolf, it only needs to go half the speed of the wolf, or 10 m/s². That'll just keep it out of trouble.

"What a dull and heavy creature," said the Rabitt, "is this Wolf!"

"And yet," says the wolf, "I shall run, for you look like a tasty lunch"

"I'm late, I'm late for a very important date" Said the Rabitt.

"I know I should accelerate"

But the Rabitt had to wait...For the Wolf, he wanted to frustrate!

The Wolf was one meter from his prey, but the rabitt slipped away.

On a Tortoise's back, "they" say...Yes a Tortoise, saved the day.

As they passed the finish line. The Wolf got smashed by a huge Swine.

Slow and steady won the race. The Wolf is now in "a better place"

the rabbit can actually just look for a whole and hide there till the wolf gets tired and walk away... no need to run, he will not be able to outrun a wolf, so just better hide. =)

any positive acceleration according to Zeno's paradox.

# v = u +at
so i think the acceleration would be 10 m/s^2.
