I will tell you why everybody should care about this case. Because the police think that Madeline was targeted WHILST IN ENGLAND and a known pervert was sent to abduct her for two other people! Now that is scary!!! I mean it is a hard enough job bringing up kids at the moment without starting to think things like this could happen! What I can not understand is why people feel that they have the god given right to judge the parents! You can give your opinion of course but try to be unbiased if possible.
This case has scared a lot of people, I know that I will not even allow my daughter out to play at night now. I know I am over protective but I would rather have her where I can see her as regret not doing so later!
I am also very suspicious of any country that will not let the poster of an abducted child be displayed at airports for fear of what it will do to tourism.. Portugal will not!
One last thing I would like to ask,, When would you give up looking and go home?
I never would supposing I had to hitch-hike around the world. And as for my job, well lets get priorities right here shall we, my daughter is more important to me than life itself!!!

The sad part is, children unfortunately disappear all the time - and normally we don't hear about it. When we do it's because it was a privileged child and/or in someway the parents had some sort of connection to get the publicity that they want (and in some cases thrive on) or the crime itself (meaning after the body had been found) was so particularly heinous that it will sell papers and boost ratings and in some cases (like that one little girl in Florida a few years back) the abduction itself was caught on video which may provides leads in the case.
In the case of this little girl Maddie - she was a privileged child whose parents apparently don't possess enough brain cells to realize you don't live little children alone in a room in a foreign company while enjoying a romantic dinner for two. Dumbasses!!!

I care that the child is missing, i also care that thousands of other kids have gone missing since The Mccann's left their kids home alone.
I agree though that without any real news on the case, it would be better to move on to some of the other important issues going on. at least until/unless there is a development in the Mccann case.

i can only assume that some people would swap their children for the use of a private jet and some travel if they think that the mccanns are doing this for any other reason than finding madeleine

Actually load of people care about Madeleine herself. I think less and less people are interested in the parents. After all they started something that could have been easily avoided. Yes the parents are trying to make the most of it.

Anyone with children cares, the question is is it news?
We live in a news 24/7 obsessed world. Every little news item is fair game. It may be of interest to the local area in which it occurred but it's just of passing interest to the rest of the world.
I find it obscene that the couple left their babies unattended in a motel room in a foreign country. They may not be involved in her disappearance, but they are complicit by their lack of common sense at the very least.

it must be awful for them, but it's totally their fault. firstly, why take the kids on holiday if you plan on leaving them every night? you might as well have a couple holiday and leave the kids with family, because the kids aren't getting much enjoyment, are they? secondly, what's up with leaving such a young child by themselves? even if the child wasn't kidnapped, she still could have walked out of the door [it was open!], turned on the cooker or something.
thirdly, why was the door open? are they insane? if a kidnapper isn't going to get in, then the child will walk out anyway! they totally asked for it and have no responsibility. still, it must be awful for them! but oh my god, talk about a repetitive story!
7:00am: madelline has been kidnapped...
7:10am: breaking news! a child...
7:20am: the parents of...
do we really have the memory of a fish? no need for us to be reminded every 10 minutes!
