Hello,

I live in Hollywood and am quite anxious to visit SF. Is Labor Day Weekend a good time to go? What is worth doing? Going with a ladyfriend, we are both in our twenties.

Going to SF is always a good idea. It's one of the great cities of the world, with lots to do and see. You will have a wonderful time.

Of course, visiting SF is always a great idea. Just be aware that it's going to be a bit crowded, mostly with tourists, as SF residents tend to leave town that weekend.

The weather will probably be nice; the summer fog abates around that time.

For some good entertainment, I recommend BATS Improv, SF's favorite improv company (voted Best of the Bay eight years in a row). It's located out at Fort Mason Center near the GG Bridge, so there's less traffic and easy parking. The September schedule isn't up yet, but here's their website:

If that is the only time you have available to go to SF, I would say yes! If there are other times you can visit SF, hold out and wait. Labor Day weekend is known to be crazy busy and you will be with lots and lots of other tourists.
If you do decide to go during that weekend, somethings I suggest are biking/walking the GG Bridge, visiting Sausalito (1st small town across the GGB..can also take the ferry), Alcatraz tour, Chinatown, Downtown, Haight/Ashbury area, Golden Gate Park, Fishermans Wharf/Pier 39, North Beach, Coit Tower, and if there is time left, there are some museums. There are lots to see and lots to do, but be prepared to walk. Driving in SF is horrible in touristy areas and parking will be expensive; walking will allow you to stop whenever you want and you will get a better look at places all around.

You will have a lot of company there if you go on Labor Day weekend. Lots of in-state folks travel to the Bay Area for one last weekend before school starts.

Absolutely...just enough time to enjoy all the attractions. Or the nightlife if you'd prefer. I went there for a weekend and I visited the Fisherman's wharf, ghiradeli square, the lombard street, japanese town, chinatown, union square, etc. It's nice to go to SF if the weather is still warm.
