I do. Or at least the other families that were on board that flight should be able to sue him for pain and suffering due to having to worry about it. and if one of them contracts the disease and dies, he should be charged with manslaughter. what's your opinion?

Yes I do. It was the most selfish thing for him to travel when advised not to. He could have changed his wedding plans. It’s not about the wedding day; it’s about the marriage there after; so they didn’t have to go there, in my opinion. I do feel that he should be held responsible even if no one else gets infected, there should be no exceptions regardless of the outcome. What a selfish b*str*d! But, I heard that he is an attorney, so what should we expect?
Idon't have to feel bad for him, he knew what he was doing was wrong. Why else would he come through Canada? Personally I feel sorry for the Canadians who have been able to allow easy passage form country to country and now have this stigma of the TB guy and the 9/11 terrorists.

I don't know... If he wasn't expressly forbidden from flying (which would seem weird as you'd think he would have been), I'd have to say no. He supposedly thought things would be ok (hopefully, at least).

I recently read an article about a man who was basically imprisoned in either Arizona or Texas that had a strain of TB that sounds remarkably like this man here. He was being held just because of what he had in the fear of an outbreak, were he not. He may have not heeded warnings previously, I don't remember all of the details, but it's a tough situation. On one hand, it almost seems reasonable to keep an infection like that away from the public, but on the other hand is it really reasonable to imprison someone for merely being sick? I can't say what is "right".

ok, well, on the first flight i don't think he should be charged... they didn't tell him "no, you can't go on a commercial flight" even though they knew he was going.. and nobody knew that it was the resistant strain of TB,
but on the flight back to canada and the state, he should have told the flight personnel the situation and left it up to them... he withheld the information that he knew, and that is reckless endangerment.... no matter how sorry he is and how much he cries and feels sorry, it was wrong.

I think he should be charged. He put so many lives in danger. He knew that he had the most dangerous form of TB and he still got on a plane. If anyone else winds up with it, they should be abe to sue that @$$hole.

My co-workers and I were just watching CNBC and they had a discussion about it. Mr. Speaker seems to be telling the truth when he said his doctors and nurses failed to tell him about the seriousness of his condition. His actions weren't deliberated. So why not charge the hospital or clinic, when they are the professionals and should've known better??
You gotta feel bad for him though. I mean from now on, everytime he walks into a room, no one will wanna get close to him.

Just like typhoid Mary. Worse is those who are deliberately going out and infecting other people with Aids. There is a special place in Hell for those creeps.

I don't think he should be charged, I mean come on- there is a lot of people walking around full of diseases that none of us know about, and we have probably sat next to them or used the same toilet in a public bathroom.

I agree totally. What he did showed a callous disregard for human life!!! He's got a lot of answering to do, IF he survives the strain of TB he's got!!!

I like your thinking, but I doubt the charges would really hold up. I just like to know how he says he didn't know he was contagious, but the medical staff insists they told him?!?
