Seen them several times when Allen Woody (RIP) was playing bass. I've seen them seen them several times with Derek Trucks (replaced Dickey Betts) on guitar and Oteil (replaced the late Allen Woody) on Bass. Great marathon shows each time.

Fav songs: Whipping Post, Mountain Jam (44:00 inst from Fillmore East), Hoochie Coochie Man (With the late Berry Oakley on vocals), In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed, Dreams, Nobody Knows, Soulshine, Back Where It All Begins, Sven Turns, Jessica, Midnight Rider & One Way Out. I have more favs but run out of room listing them.
I wish I was old enought back in the day to see the original line up of Greg Allman, Duane Allman,Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Jai Johanny Johansen (aka Jaimoe) and Butch Trucks

To paradox: the song with the lyrics "There's a man upstairs, might be your man I don't know" That is One Way Out.

I LOVE the Allman Brothers Band. They're some good stuff...I love everything from their album Eat A Peach (Melissa, Blue Sky, One Way Out...does it get better? Nope, not much) as well as Idlewild South and Brothers and Sisters. However, if I had to choose a favorite song I would say it is Midnight Rider...they have a lot of great songs, and it's hard to choose a favorite, but that song reminds me of when I was younger...I just remember it playing a lot.

An amazing band, have been since they formed in 69. As for their greatest song? Tough call, Ramblin Man is amazing as is Midnight Rider as are all Allman Brothers Songs..

My favorite though would have too be Jessica, followed closely by the song called Can t Lose What You Never Had

Good Question!!

I saw the Allmans at Waterloo Village in NJ about 15 years ago - still a huge fan.

My favorite tunes would probably be (in no particular order)

In Memory of Elizabeth Reed
Jessica
Soulshine
One Way Out

Hard to narrow it to just one song. I think that "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" has to me my top Allman Brothers favorite, followed closely by "Whippin Post" then "There's a Man Upstairs (Might be your Man, I don't Know." That last song, I wasn't sure of the exact title, but that's the song. All the others are terrific too. Darn hard to make a choice.

Don't forget, "Midnight Rider."

Good question.

I'm going to go with "You Don't Love Me" even though it's technically not an ABB song. Other covers I like:
Rocking Horse
Stormy Monday Blues
Hoochie Coochie Man
Into the Mystic

Originals:
Revival
Les Bres in E Minor (sp?)
Instrumental Illness

Saw 'em at Winterland right after Duane died- still a great show. My favorite would have to be the live-at-the-Fillmore version of Sonny Boy Williamson's "One Way Out", just for Duane's unbelievable solo.

I've liked them for the past 35 years. I really like "Dreams" from their first album, and "Midnight Rider" from Idlewild South. Live at Fillmore East is one of the greatest live albums of all time.
