Ramayan or Rama Avatar appeared nearly 20 million years ago as per http://rama.avatara.org/

"Lord Rama, the most famous incarnation of God, appeared on Rama-navami (Chaitra 9). He is known as Maryada Purusottama and is the emblem righteousness. His life and teachings of morality in office are as relevant for us today as when He appeared nearly 20 million years ago":..

Dating epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata is not a easy task since we do not get enough evidence archeologically. But, if you see deep and try to decipher dates acording to diffrent star combinations and constillations given in it by sage Valmiki it seems the great war must have taken place some where between 7000 to 8000 years back. This is also the time when present ShriLanka was nearest to us in last 10000 years. If you see Satelight image of India you will see that we have land which has been reclaimed by Ocean in last few thousand years and present global warming cycle will change the whole thing again.

Dwarka which was destructed due to reclaimation by ocean at end of Dwapar yug (Krishna kal) must have been somewhere around 5000 to 5500 years back.

Till date we do naot have conclusive evidence for calculating these dates and further exploration along sea beaches and rivers should be done to know more.

Ramayan is supposed to have happened during the Dretha Yuga , preceding the Dhvapara yuga and kali yuga. We are in the 5108 th year of kali yuga . (vide the Indian Almanac)of the current year ..A yuga comprises of 10, 80000 years .So Ramayana should have happened some 10, 80000+5108= 10,85108 years ago.since ti could not have happened in the one last year of the Dretha Yuga , it should have some thousands of yeas during the Dretha Yuga before the Dhvapara Yuga. ,( ie) long before some 1085108 years ago.. a fossil or any evidence relating to the period would not be available just some hundreds of feet below the earth's crust .We might have to go some thousands of miles deep into the earth to get any evidence relating to that period .
The earth is some 13 million years old ,according to the scientists . The Ramayana has happened some one to one and a half millions of years ago only .This seems to be a possibility only.

I have no idea on this but try searching in the internet.
Indians never gathered or kept information about their past like the westernes. Indians believed in the oral tradition.
Hence we have westerners and some Indians who challenge the existence of Ramanya epic and Mahabharat epic in India.
The pool still exists which God Ram and his people went to Lanka to fight against the King Ravana.
Now the pool is given the name - Adam's bridge. Many so called educated Indians would love to say this is not the bridge which God Ram and his men walked.
Unless Indians do not have the courage or have no respect for their culture or their religious epics then we have lots of westerns who love to challenge us.
Dwarka is under the sea and research is going on.

Vedic Calculation is in terms of Yugas and cycles of Yugas.
There are 4 Yuga namely - Satya, Treta, Dwapar, Kali.

According to this calculation the Duration of Kali yuga is around 432,000 years. Dwapar was 2 times Kali, Treta 3 times and Satya 4 times kaliyuga. Ramayana was some time in Treta Yuga.

At present we have just passed through five thousand years of the Kali-yuga. So even if we consider Ramayana to be just at the end of Treta Yuga, that makes it atleast around 869,000 years old (5k of Kali and 864k of Dwapar).
