I told my girlfriend that I got 2 free trial memberships at a local gym and invited her to join with me (a little white lie). We've kept going for 6 months now and she's lost around 25lbs, and I've gained muscle here and there. Don't straight up tell her she's fat, that would only depress her.

You can only ask her to lose weight if you're a doctor.
All you CAN do is start making healthy meals and ask her to go on walks with you. You tell her to lose weight, you will (at best) hurt her feelings.

Pete sounds like a pretty good guy there.
Try to look at it as "getting in shape" vs. "loosing weight". It will be good for both of you and the kids.

She probably is healthy. It's not that her weight is from being straight up FAT, but just extra baggage from children. Get her checked out and if she is healthy then get off of her case.

How "new" is she?
There are a few ways to do this tactfully.
State that you are going to get your chol and glucose checked and ask her if she's ever done it.
If she says no, see if you can go and get it done together.
If one or both of you has high levels, suggest working out together. "Its better to work out with a partner instead of alone".
Or suggest that you want to work out and see if she'll come along.
Or take long walks.

Then tell her nicely that you want to start walking with her or join a club with her. SUPPORT her and tell her you're interested in her health (not necessarily the way she looks) and she's more likely to respond positively to your entreaties.

let her worry about her own body. if u tell her that u think shes fat than she will probably dump u. if she keeps gaining weight and u think shes unhealthy, than ask her about going to a doctor or try going on walks with her.

You can't!!!!! If she is okay with herself then that's great. Her weight is none of your business. Love her the way she is or leave her. She deserves better than you if you are this petty.
