Good: helping people, making a good living, upholding the laws and Constitution, ability to be self-employed as long as you want (into retirement if you want), learning about different areas, meeting interesting people
Bad: long hours, potential liability if you screw up, unreasonable clients/opposing counsel/judges, no control over schedule if you are not self-employed (and sometimes even then), deadlines

The good qualities about being a lawyer are the rewards of upholding the constitution and fighting injustices done to people. You can also make a good living at it. The negatives are long hours, often performing very tedious tasks... reading and preparation.

law school is becoming more service oriented - ie, they're trying to please the student body more by deviating from rote memorization and socratic dialogue in class. i can't say much else for sure, but i can recommend a book. 'the destruction of young lawyers'

I would say because there are times when you are representing The Innocent as well as the Guilty.
