over for my kids birthday, he's only 2, he'll never remember it anyway. If I fight this battle, will she leave me?

Why on earth would you put up a fight over this?

If it's that much trouble to buy a cake and have a couple kids over to play, have a McDonald's party. Invite 5 of his playmates, buy 'em each a happy meal, get their parents a cup of coffee, chat with the parents for 45 minutes while the kids play in the ball pit, sing happy birthday, give em a cup cake and go home.

Take lots of pics and show them to your son when he's 30 and you need to prove to him that you were interested in his life, which you don't seem to be. At least you'll stay out of the doghouse for now.

This is not about you, you selfish bonehead. It's HIS birthday. Suck up and smile

If you get your way of refusing to let your son have a birthday party, you will NEVER hear the end of it, and it WILL be used in court against you.

Good luck.

Man if something that stupid can ruin your marriage you have a Looooooong road ahead of you.
First of All, every kid wants other kids at their birthday party, so quit being a 'stick in the mud' and throw the kid a decent party for crying out loud.
Your question says it all ...."not all that interested"
You need to get interested or perhaps getting a divorce now is a good idea, cuz with your attitude its only a matter of time. Better to divorce now while the boy is young, since as you said "He'll never remember"....

I have a two year old son and he just had a birthday party with his friends over and he was really enjoying it.Especially the part where we were singing the Happy birthday song and blowing out the candles. So my point is,your child may not remember it but its now that counts.Your child is going to be 2 years old only once.So you should let your wife invite your child friend over.Don't you want to see a smile on everybody's face rather then your wife wanting a divorce?

I don't know if your wife will leave your or not - but hey! it's just a Little party - why don't you just go with the flow! It's hardly worth the stress of arguments. I think you need to put a little more thought into"choosing our battles" . Life is too hard to let this simple stuff get in the way!

So enjoy - he'll only be 2 once!

Do not underestimate kids, they know more and see more and hear more than you know!!!
Why do you want to fight this, the two of you can share the kids even though you are going through a divorce, the best thing to do try to get along and get the big D over with and not have it drag on, move on and stop hurting each other!!!!

Yes, he WILL remember the other little kids at the party. When you tape his party and play it for him in later years, he will say "I remember this."

Is this REALLY worth getting a divorce over, because if you do, I guarantee that you will miss future birthday parties!

If she leaves you over this, you have more problems in your marriage than just your child's birthday. That said, it sounds like this birthday party is more important to her than it is to you "really wants to" vs "not all that interested", and you might consider finding a way to have fun doing this with her for your son.

You know what? Is it really worth fighting... Yes... let kids come to the birthday party... they are the ones that will have more fun than the adults.
