There are still websites and especially web applications in .NET or ActiveX programming language that will ONLY work on Microsoft Internet Explorer. In fact, there are web sites that work on IE 6 and do not yet work on IE 7.
To be on the safe side, I recommend keeping both browsers installed.

I also use firefox and I didn't get rid of IE but that was because other users on this computer like to use it. I don't think it's going to make much difference whether you get rid of it or not, mostly it's just personal preference.

NO! First of all, it won't hurt a bit, to have both on your system. Second, and perhaps most important, some software, and most notably Microsoft stuff itself (like Windows and Office) is mean-spirited enough to REQUIRE that you have a copy of IE around to download updates. I use Firefox myself, but keep IE around just in case!

u may if u want, but i think u shouldnt..
internet explorer is helpful when firefox is not working. there are times where firefox hangs alot and require reinstallation. it has happened to me. and i was too lazy to reinstall firefox. so i used internet explorer in the meantime. (:
