Are you trying to set up your g-mail account? I would stick to yahoo for email and my home page. Its easier to navigate.

-On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, click the Security tab, click the Internet Web content zone, and then click Custom Level.
- In the Settings box, scroll down to the Scripting section, and click Prompt in the Download Signed Active X Controls
- Click OK, then click Apply, then click OK again.

You may need to reboot for the settings to stick. After that the narrow yellow bar should appear when Active X is needed.

Some Active X controls are malicious, using prompt instead of completely enabling them help protect you from downloading anything bad.

One thing you could do is, on your browser menu, at the top, click Tools. Then click Internet Options. In the resulting window, click the tab labeled Advanced. Scroll down until you find Security. Check-mark the item labeled "Allow active content to run in files on my computer". Click OK.
