I think that the Spurs have been to the finals way too many times so its not fair. Am I right?

The Spurs are definitely not a "fun" team to watch, but when you play at the level they have for so many years, then they are deserving of the respect they get. There are two exceptions though.

During the series with the Phoenix Suns a few weeks ago, Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw of the Suns were suspended from the next CRUCIAL game because of a thoughtless rule by the NBA. These two suspensions crippled Phoenix and basically gave the Spurs the series. The series most likely would have gone to game seven, but the "the rule" ruined any chance of that happening.

Another factor is this: In the first round, the Dallas Mavericks, the team with the NBA's best record, were faced with the one team they couldn't beat during the regular season. The Mavs lost the series and they were one of only two teams that could have beaten the Spurs. To be more accurate, the Mavericks probably would have beaten the San Antonio.

If the Spurs were undeserving of a championship at anytime in their history it would be this year not because they are a bad team, but because the league's two best teams were given a bad hand.

People call the Spurs boring because they play a team-oriented, defense first, grind it out style of basketball. The Spurs offense is predicated on patience, ball movement, and unselfishness. They are not flashy, they don't try to slam it down on every play, they're just as happy with a baseline jumper from Kurt Thomas as they are with a slam from Manu Ginobili. On defense they're just as happy forcing a 24 second violation as they are with getting a steal. When they block a shot, they don't swat it into the 12th row. The Spurs don't yell, pose, and prance after a big play. Even their superstars are low key. Tim Duncan would be deadly at poker. All you see from Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili is a smile. The most emotion you will ever see from the Spurs, aside from Tim Duncan's occasional fist pump is a high five or pat on the rump or the head. There are no chest bumps or forearm smashes here. All you'll see is a finger point at the person who made the big play and then it's back to work. The Spurs never get too high or too low. This all comes from Head Coach Gregg Popovich who always reminds them, "You're never as good as your last win, and you're never as bad as your last loss."

Anyone who says the Spurs are boring obviously have not seen any of their games recently. The Spurs have a rep as playing slow pace shut them down defense. This is not true they have 2 guards (Parker and Ginobile) that are some of the fastest and best at going to the basket. Yes the Spurs like to play low scoring games but they have the ability that they showed in the Sun series that they run the court and score.

Yeah you are right. Other teams who aren't good enough should be allowed in the finals because we feel sorry for them. Winning throughout the year, and destroying teams in the playoffs should have no bearing on who gets into the finals. It is so unfair. I know, since Cleveland has never won a title, let's just go ahead and give it to them, better yet, let's give a title this year to all of the teams that have never won one. That way it can all be fair and no one gets their feelings hurt, we will all be winners, and nobody will be losers. I hope you can all pick up on the sarcasm, because I am laying it on pretty thick. The person who asked this question has to be a democrat. Equal parts for all, regardless of merit. Take away from teams that earn it, and give to the teams that don't.

I wouldn't say it's not fair since they earn their right to be there everytime, but it is boring. The Spurs have no star power and aren't a flashy offensive team. Boring to watch, but undeniably effective since they win 50 games every year and are a regular in the playoffs and finals.

Uh..... NO! They have deserved going to the Finals each and every time they have been there, and that does not make them a boring team. They have never lost a Finals series, and they will keep it that way. GO SPURS GO!!!! GO FOR FOUR!!!!
Coolhand should definitely get best answer!

I agree that it is not fair to say that the spurs is boring team to watch. A lot of people say this because they see in this team the consistency and athleticism that other teams do not have and that is why no team can topple them down as of the moment.

hahahaha, it's "not fair"???
you're crazy.
just because they're able to beat the other teams, doesn't make it unfair. every team has an equal opportunity to practice & put together the best team possible.
apparently the Spurs just use this to the best of their ability more than the other teams.

how in the world is this unfair?

Why would it not be fair? They won the West. If other teams want to take their place, they should beat them first. Should the NBA then just set up a rotating schedule for teams to play in the finals, so that everyone can have a chance?

Yes you are right. the spurs have been lucky many times. there is no way that the spurs are going to get 2 wins in the championchips. Tim duncan needs to go some where. he has nothin on Lebron James.
