I have been a runner my whole life. in the past year when i run over a mile or sprint, a bump almost the size of a dime appears just to the right of my shin. Someone told me this could be a blood clot and i'm wondering what it could be and if it could be dangerous.

OUR BODY IS ALWAYS trying to tell us How it Feels---It uses pain ,dizziness ,numbness and swelling---we should ALWAYS Stretch and Warm up our Body Before Exerting ourself with ANY Exercise---If your Shins Burn When you Start Running,You Probably have not warmed up enough---You Most Likely Have Torn The Capsule to a Structure near your Shin---You Keep Herniating the underlying tissue---you should have that Repaired BEFORE IT GETS WORSE---If You Had a Clot We Would Not Be Communicating Now---Because it Could have Been Forced up into your Lungs as a Pulmonary Thrombosis---Which Could Very Easily Have Killed You---So You See---When you Do NOT See a Doctor When Something is Wrong---You are Playing Russian Rulet---You COULD Survive---BUT You Could Be VERY WRONG---It is BETTER to be safe Instead of SORRY---I Hope You And Anyone Who READS this WILL CONSIDER the DIRE POSSIBILITIES of NOT relying on a professional to make the Final Diagnosis and Action---We Spend a Lot of our life Learning and RE-LEARNING our Profession---In the End---How Valuable is your health to you ??? Medical help is Expensive,I Understand and Apologize---I Can not control the cost---any more than we can control the cost of Gasoline---If the Car Breaks down we get it fixed---It's only a THING---BUT if We break down---We Put a Bandade on it ,And Keep Running ???---We Pass this way But ONCE---Once our ticket has been Punched Were on our Way---Home---Signed---JEM

Blood clots form in veins, and there are no significant veins on the front of the shins, so a blood clot is unlikely. If you do have a blood clot, the bump should appear purplish, and it will have an oblong shape, and look like an enlarged vein. The first link has some questions to help identify blood clots.

The most common thing causing bumps to form on the shins is inflammation of the tendons, muscles, or periosteum (outer membrane of the bone). This is called shin splints, and you may be in the early stages of causing shin splints to develop. The second link has info on shin splints.

If you're a sprinter now I could maintain sprinting, sprinters have the dignity, sprinters have the our bodies, the quickest individual in the world will get the label "SPRINTER" cheetahs dash, gazelles dash ever so sleek, lions dash with braveness like kings tigers dash majestic and rapid, sprinters are muscular, sprinters are powerful. sprinters would without difficulty convert to far-off runners however far-off runners can't transform sprinters. You didnt state what's you age organization, what's it slow? do you run the one hundred, 2 hundred or four hundred meters do you run all of them? It now not whats less difficult distance strolling is extra time ingesting considering you're operating one other sort of muscle which calls for longer much less severe paintings-outs utilising the gradual twitch or Type I muscle mass at the same time sprinters paintings on rapid twitch or Type II muscle mass which might be rapid speedy firing shorter extra severe paintings-outs. Like I stated previous provide me a few numbers for your occasions and I can tailor a exercise plan. Good success and hold sprinting.

This is likely a muscle spasm that probably passes pretty quickly and is not dangerous. If it bothers you, a Doctor will induce the mass with a stress test and then diagnose it.

I'd go to the doctor. Whoever told you that may be right, and you shouldn't take any chances.
