Being a foreign student in the another country sure is lonely.I try to make friends but it is unsuccessful.Well, maybe because sometimes I have a problem with understanding their accent. They seem don't understand my accent too(sometimes). And I don't know the stuffs they like to chat so they look at me like a idiot.I still have to catch up a lot of things in study and don't have time to talk with.Well...I am sort of good at study and usually get A+ in average;so I think they are jealous because I am not come from a impressive country and they kinda underestimate me at first. But then when they discover that I am better than them, they try to make me sad by advoiding me(in the way telling me like;you are good at study but you don't have any friend at all).So I really need advises.Help me,PLEASE!!I am desperate.

Well first of all, you need to change that attitude. You cant go around acting like you are better than anyone. another thing, maybe you need to take a diversity class and really study hard for it. You really must learn about and try to understand the culture you are in. Seriously, it sounds to me like you need to relax and just be yourself. You cant force or expect people to like you. You just have to be friendly, courteous and empathetic towards people. dont try hard trying to prove to anyone that you are worth having as a friend, if its true, they will see it and cling towards you. remember though, you are not better than anyone!

Smile politely and if anyone talks to you, just explain that you are still learning english and could they please talk more slowly. Look enthusiastic, and try and seek out people who like the same things you do like, join a music club or go swimming. You'll make more friends if you have something in common with them first.

There's nothing much you can do to change their shallow perception about you.

But that doesn't meant they are all the same. Maybe a majority of them are, but not all.You just gotta look out for those who deosn't share such negative mentality. Usually those who are more mature than the rest

It's is very difficult to find friends when you live in another country. I am from Bulgaria but i came in Greece three years ago and i have not many friends. All the other kids are racists because of their parents.

try finding someone else who needs a friend, find people you have things in common with, and/or confront the people who do that to youabout being in a new place, ask them if they know how it feels to be labeled a social outcast, and etc., also join a club or team!
