So i went over a tree stump, i know you aren't supposed to, don't tell me, but it was really short, like less than an inch and it was the first time i had the wheels lower to the ground. Anyway, i hit it and the thing shut off, the cord won't pull out, well, it does a little bit and its hard to pull, doesn't come all the way out, i tipped it over and the blade is real hard to turn, nothing is stuck in the bottom. What is wrong with it and how can i fix it? i don't wanna have to buy a new one, it is possible to fix it at home so i won't have to take it somewhere? what parts am i gonna need?

its brand new, we've used it maybe 3 times, it was from walmart, $138. don't have the receipt or box so can't return it or nothin. and we live in a small area i'm not sure where to look for help at, i tried calling sears, they said the wait is gonna be awhile and i called a nember for a small engine repair which turned out to be a gas station!

It sounds like you bent the crank shaft when you hit the stump. You can have it repaired but it might just be better to buy a new one.

I sounds like the crankshaft is bent. If so, it will cost you more than you paid for the mower to get it fixed. It is not a job you can do on your own, at home.
However, if it is the blade rubbing on the bottom of the deck that is causing the problem with getting the motor to turn when you pull the cord, you can try replacing the blade and the mower might be ok. If the blade isn't rubbing, you can be quite sure the motor is shot.

First you will have to determine if you bent the crankshaft. Remove the sparkplug and hold the engine brake lever. Turn the engine and check to see if the shaft runs straight. You also may have sheared the flywheel key. It will require that the cowling be removed and the flywheel pulled off. Most likely the blade is bent also so that will have to be replaced. If the crankshaft is bent you may as well replace the mower or find an engine for it. Having it rebuilt will cost more that the mower is worth.

tell your mom that the cords get old and brittle especially if left outside at all. they break all of the time nothing new. Have her take the lawnmower to the nearest lawnmower repair place and get a new cord installed. then it will work again for many more years. It is not your fault have your mom take a pill and calm down.

take the spark plug out of it so it does not start now set it where your husband or boyfriend can look under it now pull the rope if it's the blade you just get a new blade about $13 if it's a bent crankshaft buy a new mower but I would guess it's a blade

You've bent the shaft and (hate to tell you), the repair will cost more than the mower is probably worth (if it's an older one). Ideal height to cut grass in the Summer is 2 inches....sounds like you were really "scalping" things.

sounds like you may have bent a blade and thrown off the balance.....look locally for someone who can fix it for you..alot of older men do this as a part time job out of there garage or basement...very cheap like 20 bucks usually for an easy fix but you do have to pay for the parts..ask around and i bet someone will know who fixes them

The shaft is bent. You will probably need to replace it...not cheap.
