How can it possibly have cost that much, was it made of solid gold?
Why didn't they make it a competition to design a logo with say £5,000 going to the winner, that would have saved £395,000 which could have been put to better use.

The price is for the right to the USE of the logo, not just one single piece. This means that it could be used for shirts, blankets, mugs, you-name-it-you can-use-it. The Olympic logo is known and recognized all over the world. Therefore it has selling power. When used on merchandise, people know that the product is officially endorsed by the Olympics.

I totally agree with the competition. They have spent £400k on something that looks like a test for a backward or brain-injured person. I expect it to come in plastic pieces with holes to match.

apparently a segment of animated footage promoting the 2012 Olympics has been removed from the organisers' website after fears it could trigger epileptic seizures.

Is this a windup? Surely no one has paid that much for a logo? Blimey, mind you who is the idiot, the person who charges £400K or the person who pays it?
Dear God please don't tell me we as taxpayers are paying it?
