we had a problem with algae in our pool when we opened it this year, which led to a cloudy pool when we cleared it up. I was told to put something in it that drops all the particles to the bottom so you can vacuum them, but everytime I try and vacuum it just stirs everything up! Our pool has not gotten any cleaner and the vacuuming just doesn't seem to help. any tips or ideas?

Hi Hillary,

Make sure you are vacuuming very slowly so that it doesn't disturb the floc. If you have a skimmer net you can move this slowly along the bottom to pick up the particulate as well.

Make sure you are closing off all other inlets to the filter when you vacuum to create adequate suction.

Shock it at night then in the morning add some clarifier use more then what the bottle recommends.

Have you tried shocking it ( super-chlorinate) or algaeside? Both available at hardware or pool stores. :)
