Someone made a great point at the Spurs-Cavs game the other night.
Think about his upside! When he spends two years with an NBA strength, conditioning, and nutrition program, he will only improve. Thus, you can take the position that it is a good thing that he accomplished all of this without having and upper body strength.
To answer your original question, I am in my mid 40's, I bench-press 280 lbs 2 or three times a week, and I haven't played basketball since I was 25.

RE:
So, Kevin Durant can't bench 185 lbs, how much can you bench?
According to ESPN ans some Seattle newspaper, K durant, the #2 pick in this years NBA draft couldn't bench 185 lbs at the pre-draft testing last week. So, how old are you, and how much can you bench more than once, and do you play basketball?
Thanks.
I am 35 years old, and I can bench 210 lbs...

i am 21, 6'5'' & 195 lbs. My max bench is about 300 lbs. I played ball in high school but play it only once in a while now.
The only reason i think this is a problem for Seattle, being so skinny Durant will spend a lot of time on the injured list. I don't think he is a freak of nature like Iverson and won't be able to get up after say Dwight Howard or Shaq takes a hard foul on him.

seems to say he couldnt lift it once ,but that has nothing to do with how good this kid is gonna be he averaged 30 points and 10 rebounds at texas in a very tough conference.Durant reminds me of a t- mac /garnett mixture. He should be a superstar and if seattle doenst take him cuz he cant lift 185 then the GM should be fired cuz that would be the dumbest move ever in draft history.Im 27, can bench 180, but weigh 160 ,but can leg press over 400 pounds. I use to play basketball but havent in awhile ,just pick up games.Good question by the way

I agree Durant is good enough that he does not have to be the Hulk, but come on, hes 6'10" 215 lbs, a professional athlete, he should be able to max out his weight.
I'm 17, 125 lbs, I can max out at 190 and can lift 170 more than once. And I only play bball about twice a week.

He'll put on weight & strength once the team that drafts him puts him on a weight program- he's a great player, but with those long arms, it's tough to have a great bench press.
I'm 34, and bench press 320. I play pickup basketball a few times a week.

Correct. And he was ranked as No. 78 of 80 at the camp. Somehow I don't picture these issues as stopping him from being the No. 2 pick. Remember Sam Bowie? If he was a PF or C, I'd be concerned. But he's going to be a SF in the NBA. He's got plenty of years to work on his strength, but the combination of his size and shooting ability is uncanny. If anyone is too worried, let him drop to the Bulls at No. 9. I'm sure they can figure out what to do with the college player of the year.

The hell he cant bench 185. I am 5'3" and weigh 135 and I can bench 140pounds. I hope that ESPN was lying. I was benching that when I was 27. But maybe he never benched before so you gotta give him the benefit of the doubt
