There's a great female duet in Jeckyl and Hyde.

Why not sing a duet you both love, regardless of gender roles? I have heard some lovely duets sung by two men and two women which were originally sung on stage by a man and a woman. The impact of the words is especially striking when this is done and it can be surprisingly emotionally evocative because it is unexpected.
Another interesting thing to try, although this can be more difficult, is to take a song whch is sung by one woman and sing it together. The challenge is this--for the first part one of you sings harmony and then you trade during the next part and do that throughout the remainder of the song. It will show the director that you both have vocal range and over all good tone. And, again, this has the advantage of possibly surprising the director who has probably already heard every typical duet that's been done while still keeping with his preference for Broadhway.

I would have to say any of the duets between Elphaba and Galinda from the musical WICKED. My friend and I sang 'For Good' for an audition, 'Popular' for the first round of callbacks, and 'What is this Feeling (Loathing)' for the last callbacks, and we both made it into the choir. The songs are great for showing off a voice, whether it is soprano or alto (I'm a second alto, my friend is a first soprano), and some of the songs ('Popular' and 'What is this Feeling') are very fun to hear - and to perform!

Well, it would be helpful if I knew your vocal range, but I'll give the suggestions that I can:
"Some Things Are Meant to Be" from 'Little Women'
"Kindred Spirits" from 'Anne of Green Gables'
"Marry the Man Today" from 'Guys and Dolls'
"A Boy Like That/I Have a Love" from 'West Side Story'
"Bosom Buddies" from 'Mame'
"If Momma was Married" from 'Gypsy'
"Nowadays" from 'Chicago'
"Stepsisters' Lament" from 'Cinderella'
"A Very Nice Prince" or its reprise from 'Into the Woods'
"Our Little World" from 'Into the Woods'
"In the Light of the Virgin Morning" from 'Jane Eyre'
"Piano Lesson/If You Don't Mind Me Saying So" from 'The Music Man'
I could probably find more if I took more time, but hopefully one of those will work. I can't guarantee that they'll be appropriate for your specific situation, but break a leg!!!!

I believe that the best song for you girls to sing would be For Good, from WICKED the Musical. It has some great harmonies, and parts for an alto and a soprano. It's also a great song to show off your tone, and vibrato if you have it.
Here's an audio of the current Broadway cast singing the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEzPg1iTemE

Bosom Buddies from Mame!
In the movie, they only have one nickel for the bathroom and keep taking it from each other.
It's fun and cheesy, while they compliment each other - they also put each other down.
It's fun.

Take Me, or Leave Me from RENT.
It is modern, fun, and shows wonderful range for both singers.
