This all depends on the birthday person!
For kids--I'd say try a themed party. Maybe their favorite cartoon character or a new movie that they like. (Spiderman?? for boys) It is best to keep them at home. Maybe a pool party if you have one. Or set up a lot of games. Taking them to a big game place is a great idea too.
For teens--This varies a lot. Younger teens might still want a big party at home. Older ones often like to go out to dinner, maybe rent a movie and have an all night sleepover with their friends!
For adults--Go out with your friends! Have dinner, go to a bar!! Enjoy it!

Go out for pizza and then to a movie. Or, go bowling. Do something that you enjoy with friends.
