Yup, blowing into something as hard and long as possible.
My lungs were as good as they could be, the nurse wasn't too happy about it cause I was a smoker and should have had miserable lungs.

I have 2 friends that work in the hospital. I called in one day to meet them as we were going out for a game of snooker, and we started having a laugh with a doctor. He had some weird machine and took us in one by one to measure our lung capacity.
My mate Paul went in first, and when he came out, he looked really worried, he was 30 and had a lung capacity of a 60 year old.
My next mate Dee went in, and he had a lung capacity of a 70 year old. I was frightened to death, but I actually did best, I had a lung capacity of a 50 year old. I was 29 at the time. We drank quite a lot of alcohol that day, as we were all planning our soon to be deaths.

you take a deep breath and blow ALL the air from your lungs into a tube which is connected to a machine that is pre programmed with your details. it gives out a graph showing your lung function against what would be average for a healthy person . if you fall too far from the norm they take action with your meds and repeat the test at a later date.

yeah it involves lots of blowing into a tube with it strapped to your face, not pleasant.
My lungs were not working properly, i was managing to breath out more than i breathed in so they quit the test half way through!!!
I must have a whole in my side or something!!!
I always knew i wasnt normal...

I had one , They give you this tube that you have to suck really hard on to get this little plastic ball to move up, if you can suck the ball all the way to the top your lungs are strong , if not you have to keep practicing to strengthen them.

You put this thing in your mouth and blow as hard as you can...the little arrow moves depending on your burst of air. I had severe bronchitis when I did mine and it was pretty bad.
