12) Doesn't she have any better ideas?
Think of rearranging the words into a statement that you can understand more easily, like:
She do/does not have any better ideas.
Which word sounds better? Does.

13) Just then, a flock of ducks lands right in the swimming pool!
To choose the correct verb, just think:
Is it "the flock land" or "the flock lands"? The plural word "ducks" may mislead you in this sentence, but the verb needs to agree with the collective noun, "flock."

14) Isn't thirty dollars a lot to pay for a pair of socks?
Use the same method as #12:
Thirty dollars is/are not a lot to pay for a pair of socks.
Which verb sounds better? Is.

(Doesn't) she have any better ideas?

Just then a flock of ducks (lands) right in the swimming pool!

(Isn't) thirty dollars a lot to pay for a pair of socks?

Be careful when posing these kinds of questions, I am shocked by how many people responded incorrectly. Although it's tricky to see, all the subjects in these sentences are singular. There is 1 girl, 1 flock and 1 payment. Don't be mislead by the ideas, ducks, and dollars. Those words only support the subjects, they don't dictate the tense.

Good Luck!

12. Don't = do not, they, plural
Doesn't = does not, she, singular
So....Doesn't she have any better ideas.
13. ducks, lands = plural
duck, land = singular
So....Just then, a flock of ducks lands right in the swimming pool!
14. isn't = is not, aren't = are not, So.....Isn't thirty dollars a lot to pay for a pair of socks?
I think this is right, but I'm not gonna swear to it.

Be careful with the second one. What is doing the landing? A flock. A flock . . .land or lands?
