My friend put on a lot of weight when she tried to get on the birth control pill. It works fine for me but she was wondering what she should try?

Which has worked better for you?

Side effects depend on each person. Before choosing which one to try, compare the side effects first of each and then go with the one which has the least side effects and the most effective.

The patch has been proven to be dangerous and I would recommend all women to avoid it like the plague.

I am unfamiliar with the ring, but I have been on the Pill for 14 years (7 years high dose and 7 years so far low dose) and it has always been beneficial to me. I currently take Aviane (generic of Alesse). She can try a different brand and strength (low dose) of the pill. Not all of them make you gain weight. Mine never have.

The ring I suppose.

Stay away from the patch. you're asking for trouble if you go near it!

There is also that Y shaped thing they can put in the uterus which is good for 5 years.

I am on Alesse birth control pills and I love them.

Some pills make you gain weight- others do not. Alesse does not. or atleast for me it didn't.

The thing about birth control is that it's different for everyone and with pills especially you need to try different ones to see which you like best!

I take the pill. I have tried the patch andI would not reccomend that to anyone. There were times it would fall off, and it sometimes became irritated around the area it was placed. The pill has not let me down. My friend used the ring and she got pregnant.

i take the pill. i did gain some weight when i switched, but it isn't every brand that makes you gain. she just needs to find the right one for her body....and i look at it this way: i'd rather gain weight than get an unexpected surprise!

There are many brands of pills, perhaps that one didn't suit her.

I'm on Kariva and have NOT gained a lot of weight.

I of course use none. But all of those mess with your body. You should just make sure to have some condoms that are well within date.
