this is normal during the first year of your period.
it's going to be irregular, heavy flow, light flow, etc. it's very unpredictable.

The chunks of blood are clots- that is normal.

You should either get some over night pads or some ultra/super pads since they will hold more.

Obviously this would interupt school and a social life but since you're only 13 I don't suggest birth control pills but that would surely help you by lightening your flow and making your period more managable.

You should really talk to your mother about it because she could get you some help and help you through it anyway.

ok you talked to your mother...what about an older sibling or cousin?

Heavy periods are normal but ask her to get you better pads. Changing a pad every 20 minutes is just an annoyance!

While it's true, I believe that girl's period is irregular the first while or so (mine was), I don't think the chunks and that heavy of bleeding is normal. Go to the doctor's. Worst case, he'll say I'm wrong adn that it's normal. Listen to yourself too - you're your own best advocate. If you felt you had to post the question on Y/A and get info from us here, then maybe your mind is trying to tell you something. Good luck.

Are you using the highest absorbancy of Pads? If not, get those.

If you're using up a super pad within 10-20 minutes, your bleeding is NOT normal and your mom should take you to the Gyn as soon as possible.

The bleeding you have experienced is not normal for your age and when you have been having periods for three months.

Get your mom to take you to the doctor!!

Talk to your mom, sister or aunt & ask them again about what normal bleeding is for your family. It sounds like your pad isn't absorbent enough. If, you're still worried call the advice Nurse @ your Pediatrician's office. :)

I have no idea what this could be. If your mom says its normal I would believe her. If it was bad she would probably be taking you to a doctor. If it doesnt go away in a few days I would ask her to take you to a doctor. Good luck!

The first few periods are a bit heavier. Those chunks of blood is the remainder of your uterus. The uterus (womb) lining shed if you are not pregnant it breaks down and that's what causes period. No worries really.Good luck Take care

try a tampon. if you are going threw those in 10-20 min then i would call the doctor or just use pads and wait it out.
