Sir CG, I prefer to go to wet market. The meat is fresh and also the fruits and vegetables and I can also haggle the price. Aling Bening ( the name of the lady selling the meat) is expecting me every week to buy meat from her. No one can beat the price of the wet market, it is cheaper for I only have a meager income and suits my budget. thank you sir.

Supermarket. It's not worth mingling with the masses in the wet market with the probable chance of having your wallet or purse snatched. Plus the putik? No thanks.

I'll pass over that "freshness" issue, depends on how you choose the stuff you buy. The meat won't be throbbing but you also do get your pick. No joys of haggling lang nga. I once made a mistake of asking for a 10% discount when I first when to a wet market years ago. "Nakakatuwa" daw na customer ako they said. Yeah right...

S & R & Rustan's Power Plant offers great selections for chicken (bigger sized)especially imported Aussie beef.

Santi's for great angus burgers, lamb and angus beef. Delicatessen too.

Seafood? hypermart for the basics. Cold Storage for unagi, scallops and humungus prawns.

Supermarket for the maids too at least I see where the money goes. They prefer the wet market of course, but then come back to you every once so often because their food has run out "daw", kaya pala they pocket half of their food allowance.

Supermarket for the cleanliness. I agree with Felicity that buying seafood is better in the wet market. For the veggies, Divisoria.

I spent a l;ot of time in the PI, Can't beat their prices at the open air markets, The BBQ is great. Also lapu lapu fried is out of this world. One drawback was the smell , some of the stalls were really stinky .

Yeah, I enjoy going to the "palengke" but in my province because the commodities there are fresh and super duper mura [very cheap].. I don't enjoy going to the palengke here cos it's crowded and some vendors are scammers.

The maids usually shop at the wet market for day-to-day ulam and for special occasions that require serving hundreds of visitors. As for snacks and foods for the family, my parents like to do grocery themselves (with the maids, of course) at the supermarket (e.g. SM, Makro, etc).

Supermarket but when buying for seafoods I prefer the wet market because it's more fresh and cheaper than in a supermarket. <*-*>
