Of course I am a Democrat. But can somebody out
there please tell me this. Why would you, or anybody
in there right mind, support the Conservative party ?
A party that is based on old world, non progressive
ideology. Can you tell me how this party is better,
than the coveted Liberals ? Let's talk about this.....

But in case you don't know. Your
definition of a Democrat, is
wrong. Yes we want to keep babies
alive, and go to church, and we
work hard for our money, like everyone
else. But how can people work, if
the moronic, dictator minded, racist,
faschist faced, narrow brained,
bigot, politically incompetent, debt
drowning, Republicans don't
want us to. *

Progessive is a meaningless term. What matters is not whether we're about change or not, but whether we're about important principles. Change for the sake of change is meaningless, and usually harmful. If you can convince me that a particular change is healthy, then I'm for it, but I prefer to be cautious, because I know that most nations in the world are far less free than ours. I don't want to lose that.
In the U.S.A., conservative meant not wanting to change a lot without good cause. Since we already had a fairly secure body of rights enshrined in our founding documents, defending that against intrusion would be a fairly safe way to keep a free country. And please be clear, there was NOTHING "old world" about that. Our Constitution was a complete break with the old-world approach, and carried virtually all the radical ideas of the time. I'm just not convinced that it needs thousands of adjustments, and I tend to be very suspicious of any government that wants to fiddle with our constitution.
Of course, a REAL conservative would also have opposed much of what President Bush brought with him. The Patriot Act, in particular, is the largest piece of anti-Conservative legislation that has hit our nation in generations. This is why you hear many old-style conservatives condemn it. This is why Ron Paul is the best representation of the historic meaning of conservative. Of course, we're now run by authoritarian neo-Cons who have no respect for the constitution. In fact, they sound just like you.
So, I can't tell you why one party is better. Frankly, right now, Rudy Giuliani scares me more than anybody on the other side. However, traditional conservative philosophy is the idea that small government is better, low taxes and regulation are better, a freer society is better, and individual responsibility is the baserock of society. Explain to me how that could be a bad thing.

Yes - Depending on the issue.
I tend to be conservative on the roll of the government on local issues. I am a conservative on the constitution and citizen's rights. I am liberal on the roll of the government on human rights.
I do believe that most people are in the center with feelings that run both conservative and liberal. That is why there is so much angst about the election this year. It seems like the parties are setting up camp as far away from the center as possible.

Republican and conservative.
You mean progressive ideas like killing babies without question or restriction depending on what side of the womb they are on.
Old world ideas like work hard and be rewarded for your hard work rather than have those rewards taken away and given to someone else.
Old Christian world like donating more of their ow time and money to help the poor than liberals.
We need both conservatives and liberals for blance if there is too much of one over the other is not good.
Also liberals claim to be open minded but why did Kerry wanted attack ads against him stop but not against Bush.
Free Speech up until someone questions or responses negatively.
Free Press until someone give a conservative point of view and it is call Faux News.
The name calling on both sides has got to stop to make progress. That would truly be progressive.

Do you understand the peoples rights in this country? It is there choice not your choice to fight for. It does not matter upon which they are. This is like being a racist. Just because G. bush is a republician doesnt mean all people of that party are bad. Think it through before you start saying this like this.

I'm neither. I'm an Independent and I think for myself instead of some party who always lies and both of those parties are founded on lies. You are a part of the lies.
Sorry but I have a brain of my own.

Liberal and conservative are not parties, but adjectives used to modify the party line. One can be a liberal Republican or a conservative Democrat.

I a Republican because I believe in personal responsibility, I believe in being a good citizen, I believe in being a contributor, I believe in my country, I also believe every one else should be a contributor too and by that I do not mean to the government which has proven to me that they are incapable of providing for my family.

I'm a proud Republican, Why you ask , because the party represents and supports alot (not all) of my personal views. On a personal note, I think alot of society's problems are because of so called liberal ideology.

Why do you ask the question if you are not open to the answers?
Based on your bigoted "additional details" rant, you don't deserve an answer.
