If you put a sewer camera into a pipe on your property which comes from uphill, can you find out that way who is connected to it, even if you have no access to an inlet from their property and no cooperation from them in a dye test, because they want to deny they are connected there? Are sewer camera companies willing to go to court to testify if that is needed to stop a problem?

I don't mean septic. I mean a clay pipe that runs into my sewer pipe on my property. (My sewer pipe connects to the public sewer in the street downhill from there.) Unfortunately, not everyone connects directlly to the public sewer. Sometimes that is not in the deed and those uphill keep the info secret, even when it causes problems downhill.

The camera will tell you that another pipe is connected, it will not tell you where that pipe originates. A dye test will tell that without a camera though. The dye can be purchased on line and just flush it down the suspected toilet.

The camera will show any pipes tied into the line. The company that does this can tell you how far down the line any other pipes are. You will need to know where your property ends and the line becomes "city" sewer. Most houses have their own tie-in to the main sewer unless the original property was jointly owned. The company that inspects the line will give you a written statement of the conditions of the line which should include the number of lines involved.

you could call a local plumber who has access to a sewer camera and he may go to court for you or you could subpoena him.you could rent a camera from a rental house and diy but make sure what ever you do stay on your property and make a recording with narrated date, time and location of camera in relation to your entry point. if you find that they are connected into your sewer then notify the sewer agency so they can investigate if they are tied into your sewer they need to have a right of way onto your property and some type of legal document stating that they had permission to tie into your sewer line. if none of this is in place then seek out a lawyer.

Huhhhhh ?
Sewers are public utility and everyone is connected in to the drain lines , it is NOT yours .
Or are you talking septic ?
If you have your own septic , the only way a neighbor would be connected , is if they were constructed at the same time ( some guy built 2 houses on a property and put them both on the tank).

But you can use a camera if your camera line is long enough . . .
No permission required there .

the 1st question is what style of sewer replaced into it. inner maximum or community. the two way it fairly is going to do injury to the sewer. no remember if it fairly is a private sewer, then you incredibly will likely journey foul odors because of the loss of life off of the effective micro organism which digest and take care of the sewage. the main important issue with it incredibly is that, as some have reported, oil is organic, even even though it would not belong in the sewer. Sewage is dealt with in 2 techniques; the two with cardio or anaerobic micro organism. In the two circumstances, the oil will kill the micro organism and the sewage therapy technique would be a great deal decreased and make contributions to polluting our surroundings. no remember if it fairly is an area/city sewer gadget, it fairly is going to do the comparable element, probable on a smaller scale with the aid of dilution, even even though it may nevertheless clog pumps and impression the right therapy. final analysis, this prepare isn't a sturdy thought.

You need to elaborate a bit on what you mean by "sewer". Do you mean a holding tank/drain field?? What is discharged into the "sewer", is it storm water run-off or actual household wastewater and sewage?? Drop me a line or two at keyboard.king@yahoo.com and I may be able to help once I get the facts.
