I have not seen anything on Internet, but there is a book called the Physics of Star Trek that discusses it seriously.

The problem with matter transmission is that the amount of energy and data needed defines all reasonable expectations of human technology. The Heisenberg Uncertainty principle shows that it would be virtually impossible to record the atomic state of matter in such a way as to be able to reconstruct it exactly the way it was.
