Why would you want to induce if there are no complications? I mean I know we all want to be comfortable again and we want to hold our little bundle of joy, but isnt it expected to be uncomfortable when your pregnant? As for inducing before you are ready that tends to lead to a long hard labor...why would you WANT to do that to yourself when you can just suffer a little bit longer and let baby come when it is ready? Does this make sense to anyone else or does everyone just want to be induced?

I like the idea of doing it the more natural way. I don't agree with medical induction unless its necessary. I do like the idea of walking and having sex etc to 'naturally' (as natural as inducing can be) induce labor. I am having my baby at home as to avoid unnecessary interventions such as patocin and whatever else the docs can do to get you out of their hair.... I don't think you can really induce labor without oxytocin (patocin). I have tried everything in the world possible, and ain't nothin' happened. I truly believe that the bbay will come when God is ready for it too.

Medical inductions usually lead to c-section or all sorts of unnecessary interventions.

So, I guess, to make a long story short.... I agree with you.

I was induced with my second and third child. After a miserable and long long first labor, I was all for being induced. With my second daughter, it was a matter of being stuck at 6cm and 90% thinned for more than 3 weeks. The doctor was very concerned that I would be at home, think I needed to use the bathroom and have the baby, so for her it was a safety thing. Induced, 3 hrs labor and 5 pushes, this was 6 days before she was born.
The third daughter was out of sheer agony and a very miserable pregnancy. If it were possible to go thru it, I did. As well as my husband had just started a new job and thats when he could get time off. 5 hours labor, 1 push, and she was here.

I think its more a medical and personal decision. No one should chastize someone else for decisions they make. If the doctor feels its safe and you trust your doctor, then the only opinion that matters is yours and your husbands.

I understand you completely. I had never had the urge to be induced. But then again, my daughter came 6 days early, and that was totally unexpected. I could understand people that are 2 weeks overdue and more, because by then I'm sure that you'd have to be super uncomfortable. But I hear a lot of people talking about getting induced before their due date. That doesn't make any sense to me.

After 40 weeks the placenta is on a quick decline of failure for the baby. At 41 weeks the placenta is only functioning at about 60% and at 42 weeks it can be functioning less than 40%. Would you risk your child's life of being deprived of life-needing oxygen just to not be induced? The statistics of oxygen deprivation and fetal demise for women who wait after 42 weeks is very high.

But for women who induce to make labor 'fit' more into their lives (I see if often with c-sections) is rediculous and selfish, IMO. In those cases, it should be natural unless there's a complication that dictates otherwise.

Most women want to be induced because they are tired of feeling pregnant. I always warn them that induction causes more severe pain than natural contractions. And there is more of a chance of a longer, complicated labor or a c-section.

I understand what your saying..I don't think you should induce for just no reason..because there is a reason that they come whenever they do. I wasn't induced with my first and he came at 38.1 weeks..so I guess I don't really know what it is like to go to your due date and be uncomfy for that long..I am getting induced for this one monday however..but I didn't ask too. My doctor wants me to because my baby is really big and she thinks if I let him stay to long I will have to have a c-section.

Because of the baby's size.
Because daddy is in the military and leaving soon.
Family is in town for the birth.
Not all induced labors are long and hard.

My first came naturally - 2 weeks late
Second one, my water broke 1 week early, but nothing happened, so they gave me Pitocin and an epidural later.
My third, 1 week late, they induced me b/c she was so big (9lbs, 12 oz) and I was having high blood pressure.

I think there are plenty of good reasons to want to be induced and ultimately it should be the woman's choice.
I personally would have loved it if my last one would have come naturally, but she was stubborn and we had to make her come out!!

No you will have to in no way result in and not using a well intent. His intent is so that you can do it only for the heck of it? I do not fairly recognise what to consider of a medical professional like that! Nothing towards you hun however he will not also be speaking induction except there's a intent. My water broke for my first child and I used to be precipitated. The suffering from precipitated contractions is such a lot worse than simply having them occur certainly! I later discovered that I did not ought to be precipitated that typically after your water breaks you begin exertions certainly however it appears I used to be at an induction blissful clinic! My moment youngster used to be an induction in order that my husband would be there. We have been presently dwelling seven-hundred miles clear of each and every different and we desired to be in combination. It used to be four days earlier than my due date and I used to be already dialated to four cm. But the child wasn't doing good at the induction so we close it off after eight mins. But fortunately my frame saved up the contractions and the child had no predicament. I am now pregnant with my 3rd and induction isn't an choice with no important intent!

I don't know why anyone would choose this! I had to be induced because the baby was getting too big, and the contractions were so much worse than doing labour naturally because there were not the natural ebbs and flows of the contractions.

I was induced because I was due on my brothers birthday. That would have been great and all but then he died in a car accident 2 months before. I didn't want to have my son on his birthday after that because I felt that my brothers birthday needed to remain his. I asked to be induced knowing all of the extra pains but I didn't want to have him on that day. They did extra testing to make sure that my son was ready to join us and healthy enough before they even said yes. Everything went fine it did suck though but all worth it!
