Oh how I remember those days. I don't know if you tried this at all but maalox extra strength worked wonders. I used that in combination with tums or the chewy rolaids and that usually worked. I swear I used to chug the maalox like it was going out of style. Also they say to drink more water and to lie in an elevated position. After you eat try not to lie down as they say this helps as well. Just remember it is all worth it in the end. Good luck.

I had the worst heartburn for my entire pregnancy. I could not sleep it was so bad. Drinking milk is a good temporary solution. So is TUMS or other form of sodium bicarbonate. Try eating some bread 20 min after a meal to absorb excess acid. Also it helps to sleep with you upper body at about a 15 degree angle to keep the acid down.

drink milk. Its the only thing that ever helped me. I hate heartburn.... I feel for you!
Maybe I should also add that I tried all those Tums and Rolaids and all that stuff, none of it ever did anything worth while. A glass of cold milk would always do it for me. If it doesn't go away in 2 minutes, get another glass and drink it slower.

Oh I feel for you! And it just gets worse, im 31 weeks. This is what I do: -Take tums -Take Maylax ( I think thats what its called, its totally gross, but safe to take while pregnant, and does work) -Drink milk -Avoid spicy food, although sometimes you get heartburn even when you dont eat something spicy. -You could always call your doctor, and get a perscription Good luck, I hope ive helped!

i feel your pain i was/am the same way, i actually found that steam from a shower or warm bath helps (for a little while) just try to stay away from foods that you know might cause your heartburn, take a tums and prevacid, or whatever, mix and match is what my OB told me to do. its perfectly safe, there are just a few ideas, either way always make sure you are staying proped up, if laying down.
i feel for ya hun. hang in there.

I have had the WORST heartburn throughout my pregnacy, my doc said I could take tums, and then when tums quit working he told me to take Zantac, but not all doc's allow you to take med's for it. Call your doc and let em know and ask what he recommends. The Zantac was like heavan once I started taking it, but now that I'm 39 weeks I'm having to take Zantac AND tums for relief... Good luck!!

I took Tums when I was pregnant, my doctor OK'd it beforehand and even mentioned the calcium in it is beneficial.
If you are leary about that without speaking with your doctor, you can always try the old fashioned remedy that my mother swears by: drink a glass of milk.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

Tums, Pepcid, Prilosec, Prevacid, Protonix - all of them are good. Avoid acidic foods like citrus fruits/juices and any food with tomatos or are high in spices like cayanne, red pepper or paprika. No Thai, Indian, Italian (unless it's a cream sauce) or Mexican for you.
And why is it you can't get your prescription until next week? Seems like if you're suffering, your doctor would call one in for you.

tums, don't lay down right after you eat, avoid spicy food or other foods that set it off (if you can help it)...the old wives tale is that if you have heartburn or indegestion while you're preggers that your baby will be born with a head full of hair.
