Get some denim dresses light blue / dark what suits u knee length wear with long boots, long dress wear with short boots. Boots can also be worn with jeans so invest in at least 2 pairs. Colours that can go with anything.
Some simple but good quality , long, good fitting jeans, some tees, ur favourite colours,must have some hot colours eg, red,a black, white mix up the styles.
Note make sure ur dresses and jeans r fitting u just right, if not get then altered to fit. Get someone u can trust to go with u when shopping. Who will tell u the truth.
I am sure u will stand out .
These denim dresses & jeans never go out, they just get better.

Well, it's usually best to buy many plain colors and layer them, and then accesorize!
Also, get shirts with logos + jeans and capris...
Another thing:
check your school rules to see if you can wear spaghetti straps with a mini jecket on to, since those look really cute!

haha, we are the same! I actually feel very uncomfortable with revealing clothes. I think it may be because of the upbringing. Each time i buy a blouse or dress, I have to make sure that it is not too revealing, too short, etc. Besides, you don't have to wear revealing clothes or whatever to be sexy, modern or cool, whatever. It's all in the attitude! :)

capris and bermuda shorts work really well
if you want to wear a tnak top you already have try layering something over it like a sweatshirt, or half-length sweater.
