Ocean City is usually the best bet at just about 65 miles. It does tend to get crowded as it's probably the most family-oriented spot at the Jersey Shore. Take the AC Expressway out to Exit 7S, and that will drop you onto the Garden State Parkway, heading South. Exit 30 is the first one for the beach and will get you across the 9th Street Bridge.
CLOSEST is probably Atlantic City though since you don't have to make any turns once you're on the AC Expressway.

Well I would say the closest beach would be Ocean City, NJ or Atlantic City. I guess depending on your age would depend on where I would go if were you.

Seaside Heights is a straight shot right across the state. There's a boardwalk there with tons of things to do.
