How can he say that news reporters who are getting killed/wounded (just like US troops in Iraq) trying to report on the battles in Iraq aren't getting an accurate view of what is happeing in Iraq? They get inbedded w/ US troops in Iraq, has Rudy ever done that? So how the hell would he know what is happening in Iraq & how can he question the media that are risking their lives to give viewers accurate reports on what is actually happeing in Iraq?

How do you know we're losing if you've never been there? You are taking the word of an obviously anti-Bush press.

While there are certainly SOME media members that really get down and dirty with the troops, a whole lot more spend the bulk of their days in the relatively safe "green zone." They run out to the scene of an attack, stand in front of the camera, make their report, then scurry back to the Green Zone again. Since their focus is the bad news, that's what they report on. Most reporters, these days, are lazy and aren't willing to dig for the rest of the story. Look how many have been fooled by "informants" that have later been proven to be lying. Look at the infamous doctored photo that made a smoking building look more damaged than it really was. Those kinds of stories about the media's reporting of the war are all over the place.

Rudy, like most politicians, would not be in the middle east for more than a few days. That is not enough time to form more than a baseless opinion of what is going on there. Most reporters stay in the green zones of Iraq. They aren't in the front lines like the soldiers. I know there are a few exceptions to this, but for the most part, the reporters don't have a good grasp on the war because they are in relative safety.

reporters who are on the ground in Iraq have a better idea of what its like to have sand in your crack, or the stress the troops are under, how much suffering is going on on both sides and the 24 hour a day stress troops face when THE FRONT IS EVERYWHERE . It doesn't translate to a knowledge of short term or long term strategies they wouldn't be privy to, since they dont have secret security clearances.........
Conversely, Rudy, as anyone else in the US, can tell we are losing any momentum there from the negative feedback from numerous news sources around the world. You don't have to 'experience' Iraq to know we are in a serious struggle to try to gain control when warring sects ( hating each other a thousand years) are battling each other.............

The reports are not accurate. The military has stated such. I have talked to several vets as they have returned and the story they tell does not match that of the press.

I am a Desert Storm 1 vet and I was trading bullets with the Republican Guard while CNN was telling America that all hostilities were over and that Saddam had surrendered. I buried 7 friends that were killed after CNN declared the war over.

The press rarely gets it right. Have you ever seen the movie citizen Cain? You might want to watch it one day. It is an accurate portrayal of what is going on in a war.

Have you been to Iraq or Afghanistan? Have you served in the military at all? If not, how can YOU judge the truth of any of this yourself?

The reporters who get injured in combat operations over there are a dramatic minority of the total number of reporters in the theater. The vast majority of them stay locked up in the Green Zone, and take as gospel truth anything that anyone phones in to their sanctuary, and then these same reporters regurgitate that garbage to the hoi-polloi here in the States, which is why the truth of all the good we are doing in the region does NOT get told to the American people.

Im gonna quote Tommy Boy on this one cause it works out great.

"You can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking your head up a bull's a*s, but wouldnt you rather take the butchers word?"

Also, people dont watch the news to find out that everything is alright in America. So reporters dont report "nothing happened today." You only hear about things that go wrong.

Heck, McCain went and thought we were winning, so the actual going doesn't help either. To be the Republican candidate, you obviously have to buy and parrot the entire party line hook, line and sinker.

I don't know what's scarier: these doofuses saying these horrible things about torture, staying in Iraq forever, and the lack of need for civil liberties in this country or the prospect that they actually believe those things.

i've never been to Iraq and I think I have a pretty accurate picture of whats going on, and as i'm sure so do most americans

I haven't been there and I think I have a pretty good idea what is going on. I don't think you have to go there to know how things are going. I highly doubt that the politicians that do go there learn much. They are shielded every step of the way and only see what the commanders want them to see. How would that help your understanding of the situation?

first of all who is RUDY? second of all, I have no idea what you are talking about. I would think that the reporters that are in iraq are giving accurate reports, why would they risk their lives for reports that are inaccurate?
