Disarming is a sign of weakness. Until all human beings become fully enlightened (i.e. never), perceived weakness will always become a target of aggressive tyrants.
Human nature is what it is, and there has been no indication that it has changed one iota since the earliest human history. The best a peace-seeking nation can do is to arm itself and be capable of waging war, and to seek alliances with like-minded countries.

The problem is balance. When you do not have any stability, like Africa, people arm themselves and wars happen more easily. But when a country tries to over stabilize, like Nazi Germany, you find the government abuses its powers. Its hard to keep things stable and fair. I find that American is slowly drifting to the extreme of stability by takling away our rights for "security". No good can come of that. If it means we have a civil war, it will be difficult to bring back the stability we once had.

Wars are increasing because they get more news coverage. After a while of peaceful life "common people" start wanting to nuke something, the news agencies adjust, I think. The wars you hear about have always been there.

Many of the militia in the world are not associated with any government like the terrorists al-Qaeda, Hamas, etc. These groups have such a high passion for hating that they will never disarm. They are bent on destruction and the only way to disarm them is to annihilate them.

Disarmament is hard to follow through because noone wants to be in a situation where they have disarmed and their enemies havent - that would leave them defenceless - someone needs to take the first step.

Yes, I believe we are becoming more negative and mean spirited. We try to act like we're not, but its happening. There are wars everywhere and if we are not fighting another country we are fighting within our own. Its a scary thing actually when you think about it, we are losing our humanity!!!!
