It's leadership role in science and medicine?

If parents don't acknowledge to their children the fundamental tenets of science, where will our future scientists and doctors come from?

If future doctors and scientists come from places like India and the far east, are we willing to accept and integrate their cultural and religious beliefs into ours?

Where do you think we will be as a country in the area of science two generations from now?

With potential bans on stem cell research and strong fundamentalism against the theory of evolution, far behind the European Union (EU) that's for sure.

The US has done just fine, in fact it's done great being a Christian-leaning nation. We have great universities with wonderful medical schools. We have the best research centers and have practically lead the world in scientific research and discoveries. Just because we are a "spiritual" nation does not mean that we cannot teach and be taught the fundamental tenets of science, medicine or technology. A person is made up of more than flesh and bones, we have more than a physical body, we are inherently spiritual too. You cannot stifle one aspect of our humanity without adversely affecting the other. America will continue to grow and abound with new discoveries and inventions, new cures for diseases. Our potential is limitless.

Absolutely. And we're already falling way behind. Stem cell research is the cutting edge of science and they're doing in places like korea and china but not here.

1. Fundamentalism does not equate to "anti-secular beliefs".
2. Surely no one in the US would support unethical scientific research? The line has to be drawn somewhere.
3. It is the secularist and the atheists who are attacking Christians.

We've been taught evolution for many years. Even 100 years ago (when I attended school), evolution was taught in schools.

That does not mean that you simply can't believe in a power much higher than you are. :)

We're already seeing it happen. South Korea is beating the US when it comes to stem cell research.

What are you talking about? All the media does is attack anyone with religious faith. Religion is not bad just the zealots. Course there are plenty of zealots on all sides.
