Oh I have a couple of horses. As far as Shetland pony's ... I have 3. There names are Midnight, Catsy, and Timber.
My baby girl is Midnight. She is pretty much all black and I got her because she had a bad leg and was going to be put down. So me and my family rescue animals and she was one of them. She used to have no name at all and was badly treated. We bought her, nursed her bad to health, gave her a name, and trained her little by little to work with a bad leg. Now she has won me every single horse show I've ever entered. It's really funny, no one can even tell she has a bad leg.
Catsy actually got her name because everyone hated her. She was like the screw up pony. So she had been named Catastrophe. Well some people still call her that, not because they think of her as one now that we own her, but to keep up with using the same name. I call her Catsy though 'cause ... I feel bad calling her Catastrophe.
My other animals are sweeties, but Midnight and Catsy are really special to me because they were my first Shetland ponys and they only like me. :]

I had one some years ago - his name was John Henry - as in the folk song.
He was a rescue - brown and white painted gelding with 4 white hooves and a pink nose. Cute as a button and frisky and naughty and all the things Shetlands are famous for.
I trained him to pull a light cart - which was grand fun. At the time I lived near an Amish community where they had one-room schools every few miles. The children would get to school in light carts pulled by ponies or elderly horses. So when I moved from that area, I gave him to my Amish neighbors for a "school pony." They were good neighbors and since I couldn't take John Henry with me, I thought that letting this family have him would be a good thing. He was pressed into service for many years.

I used to have a Shetland pony named Reno. She was a brown and white paint. We bred her 3 times and got a female every time! Her first was a beautiful little chesnut named Tic Tac, second was a black named Meeko and the third was a paint just like mom, we sold her and so I don't know what they named her! They are great little ponies, and they love attention!

I have a Shetland mare named Showtime - she is a palomino...very rare around here. I show her in the spring and summer fairs.
She was currently a Champion in Havelock fair and so it is really cool to know that I bought a pony for a pet and she won a fair. How cool is that. You can show your pony at fairs if you want. It is only a 5 - 6 dollar fee. I would reccommend everyone to show their animals at your local show - it is a lot of fun and you win lots of money.

Yes i also have a shetland. She is 8 years old and her name is Flicka. She is solid black with a white blaze and 4 white socks. She loves attention to. All i have to do is call her name and she comes running to the fence for a scratch behind her ear. She also had a foal about 2 years ago. His name is Blaze and he looks just like his mommy. Good luck with your pony.
