Yes, I've seen it a couple of times. I really liked it. I remember hearing that Nikki Reed wrote it about herself- she was originally the "good" girl in real life, but she played the "bad" girl in the movie. It's scary to think the girls were only 13 years old and involved with all that. If it's true that Nikki wrote the movie based on her own experiences, I'm so glad that she turned her life around. She's very talented.

Saw it a few years ago and found it shocking, even more so when found it was based on Nikki Reed's personal experiences (Catherine Hardwicke is Nikki's mother).

Evan Rachel Wood was 13 (now 18 and the freak Marilyn Manson's girlfriend) when the movie was shot; Nikki was 15.

Yes, it was a good movie. Hopefully there are not many 13 year olds that are experiencing life similar to that, but maybe there are. If you liked 13, you may also enjoy:
Speak - a girl entering high school dealing with a recent horrific experience, which she will not explain to past friends or family.
White Orleander - a girl struggles with her mother's incarceration while being pushed around from foster home to foster home.
Blue Car - a girl enters a poetry contest and wins a prize, while on the trip she has coming of age experiences.
Mean Girls - the movie was entertaining, but I found more interesting was the extra features on the DVD which described the book it was based on.
Check them out.
