Quarterbacks for Texas and Hawaii.

Colt McCoy(Texas): 113.8 QB Rating, 217 of 318 passes completed for 2,750 yards, 29 TD's, 7 INT's and 68.2% of passes completed. This is as a freshman.

Colt Brennan(Hawaii)
Sophomore Year: 105.7 QB Rating, 350 of 515 passes completed for 4,301 yards, 35 TD's and 13 INT's and 68.0% of passes completed.
Junior Year: 129.6 QB Rating, 406 of 559 passes completed for 5,549 yards, 58 TD's and 12 INT's and 72.6% of passes completed!
Combined Stats: 118.6 QB Rating, 756 of 1074 of passes completed for 9,850 yards, 93 TD's, 25 INT's and 70.5% of passes completed!

Both are wanting to contend for the NC. Brennan brought his team from 5-7 to 11-3, and they have the potential to go undefeated like Boise State and hopefully for them, and NC appearance. Texas is always good, and McCoy is just only a sophomore, he is talking about an NC appearance and may get that this year. I look for both to have a good year, and make it well in the NFL. Opinion's anyone?

great topic...
Both these guys are stud college qb's... in his system... Brennan has no flaws, and McCoy only showed flaws as a result of youth last season... It's hard to say how each would translate to the others system, but both will have a good year next year. Numbers wise, Brennan's will be better, but McCoy will receive more attention as a result of playing big time football against top competition.
I'll leave the NFL alone, because I don't know if either of these guys translate well. Then again, it's hard to tell how any QB will do. In the right situation, both these guys could be good NFL QB's or in the wrong situation could be total flops... this could be said of any QB.

Hawaii will need much more than an undefeated record to go to the national championship. Brennan is a product of the Hawaii passing system against pop-warner defenses. McCoy on the other hand is a composed and deadly accurate quarterback in a college system and facing real teams. Last year he was hurt for a game, and wasn't 100% the last few games. Brennan might not even get drafted if this all he can muster. Yes, he has the touchdown record and off the chart stats, but scouts need more, they need insurance that he got those stats by winning a game he shouldn't have. McCoy has many oppotunities to do that. And last year against OSU he rallied team and against Nebraska he led the game-winning drive. I think McCoy takes the Longhorns to the nation championship again, while Brennan rots with a mediocre record.

cmon guys you know that Colt Brennan is totally a system guy and that colt mccoy is a guy that could excel in any system. texas doesnt recruit people for their system, they get the best players period.

hawaii runs that run and shoot offense. think david klinger. im not sayin colt brennan isnt going to be a good NFL QB, just that don't expect him to be a world beater in any system.

colt mccoy, on the other hand, can run the option (not as well as vince young) but texas runs pro style routes and mccoy will be a high first rounder if he continues to play like he did last year, or get better.

so in the end, if you are pickin a player to start a team with, you have to choose colt mccoy because he is a guy who can excel in any offense, and he would even be a stud in hawaiis O.

Neither, I go with option C - Brian Brohm, who has a much better chance for contending for a NC. Louisville returns nearly every offensive starter from a one loss team in the B.E. which proved to the nation they are a solid conference, and they will be even faster on D. They even add former Miami linebacker who was the top recruit in the nation, and 6'8 receiver Josh Chicester to go with 6'6 receiver Mario Urrutia, and they will be much improved in the running game with the addition of two four star RB's and the maturation of George Stripling and Anthony Allen.
