I've never heard any Democrats mention terrorism, or how they plan to deal with it, aside from running away from Iraq. None of them have promised to go after Osama, or take it seriously, so yes, I agree.

I didn't watch the debate last night, but I do believe that assesment is true. Terrorism has been a growing problem since the Carter Administration. No one has really taken this issue seriously until 9/11.
I think everyone has forgotten about how bad this issue is and some people just are very optomistic about terrorism and they treat it as a crime problem. That is the position of most of the democrats. There are a few democrats that see terrorism as a problem, but they are a minority in the democratic party and are basically told to keep their mouths shut. In my opinion our current round of democratic presidental candidates just don't seem to get it.
Terrorism is a cancer in the world brought about by the rise of radical islam which has direct connection to the defeat of the muslim world by the Israeli military 40 years ago. Until it is stopped, we are going to be under attack. We have had Ft. Dix and now JFK terrorist attempts. The Virginia Tech shooter had references to islam written / tattooed on his body.
I just pray that we don't have another 9/11 in my lifetime.

The only claim to fame Giuliani has is that he was mayor of NY on 9/11. He has no expertise in politics except for being mayor. I do not agree with him. Democrats do not want terrorism anymore than Republicans. That was a lame thing for him to say.

No. But Giuliani didn't take terrorism seriously. After the 1993 bombing of the WTC he failed adopt the investigating commission's recommendations on integrating police and fire communications. He also failed to move the communications center out of the WTC, despite the fact that it was well known that Muslim terrorists liked to strike the same target again if they didn't destroy it the first time.

I couldn't agree more! In fact most of them deny there is even a terrorist problem. Looking over some of the answers it struck me that those who disagree only attacked Rudy but didn't give any statement about why the Democrats do take it seriously! I found that so typical!

No.
I think every American takes terrorism seriously. The problem with comments like that is that they are designed to frighten people into casting their vote in a particular candidate's favor, and I think that's kind of sleazy. Certainly, there is plenty to criticize one's opponent about without insinuating to the public that if they vote for that person, the terrorists will attack us again.
Just because people don't share the same views on HOW to protect this country from terrorism doesn't mean that those who disagree with Giuliani's plan (whatever that may be) aren't taking it seriously.
It's all about points of view, and, when delivered civilly, we should respect one another's, even if we don't agree with them.

No I don't. Democrats take the war in Afghanistan seriously, which is where the terrorists are, the ones who attacked us on 9/11. They think we should get out of Iraq cause we weren't supposed to be there in the first place. And for the people who say that if we get out then Iraq will become a civil war..........it is already a civil war and we are in the middle of it getting killed by both sides of the war.
Let me ask neo-cons this: Does Bush take terrorism seriously??? When is the last time you heard him mention bin Laden, or Afghanistan, or the Taliban?

Based on many of the questions here on this forum, I couldn't agree more. Now, every time we have a threat here on our own soil, I read things like, "It's an inside job." or "Will the next attack take place RIGHT before the next election?".
If that's not taking things seriously, nothing is.
Talk about complacency, and all for the sake of getting their own party into office.

No. Giuliani uses 9/11 to help him in a presidential election. That's making a mockery of victims of terrorism.

No I dont believe that at all. Guiliani is gonna play that 9/11 card till doomsday, if it gets him what hes after. Let it rest already. He can't even run on his own merit. He has to drudge up 9/11 in every campaign talk. Very sad.

I don't know what they take seriously but they certainly seem to be avoiding the subject. Let's be honest. Military action is not a liberal strong suit.
Where as conservatives might be heard shouting, " Millions for defense! Not one cent in tribute!" Liberals are more likely to be heard shouting, "For what you spent on one bomber you could have funded health care!".
Conservative are just better at defense. It is just a fact.
