So,

30.5cm = 1 foot.
280cm ÷ 2.54 = 110.24 inches.... 110.24 ÷ 12
= 9.2 feet = 9ft 2 &2/5ths inches.
Or: 280 ÷ 30.5 = 9.2 feet = 9ft 2 &2/5ths inches.

Take the number of cm divide them by 2.54 cm per inch then divide that number by 12 inch per foot.
