i bought a 1999 expedition back around dec 06. only problem it had was on occasion the windshield wipers would go a couple times out of no where. now they seem to have a mind of thier own and always come on. they come on alot more and alot more often. but they still work properly when u actually do turn them on even the delay. and yes i have made sure they were all the way off and it still does it. actually one other thing also. my back passenger side door wont lock and unlock by the l/u button but if i use my remote it will unlock but not lock. and then when i do ever open that door then my door ajr light comes on for some reason and stays on whiole i am driving. i muct have some electrical problems but what could cause this and is there any cheap way to fix it?

first the wipers they were recalled on some modles check with the dealerfor a free replacement of the wiper moter if its not coverd replace the wiper motor
as far as the door lock replace the lock motor in the door
you will soon meed to replace them all as they really didnt build that car very well
for the light find the switches at the doors and wiggle them a little to knock off the rust and dirt you may want to spray them with wd40 or some other oil

Reguarding your wipers.
Someone probably spray washed the engine before they sold it to you and go the relays under the hood wet on the inside of the relay box.

Open the hood. On the drivers side the is a power distribution box with a cover on it.
Remove the cover, and look to see which relay is used for the wipers. It should be indicated on the cover you just removed.
See if you can swap them around with the blower or some other relay and see if it continues to give you problems.
If it makes it all better, replace the faulty relay.
If it does not help, then I'd have to say you have a bad switch, or faulty "park" switch on the wiper motor it's self.

Electrical problems are tough to troubleshoot.

The lock issue, a wire came off the switch when someone slammed the door, and fixing that is time consuming.
Personaly, I wouldn't worry about it. Just get used to it.

As for the wipers...you could have a loose ground on the circuit, or the multi-position switch on the column is hosed. Unless you're handy with such things, a stealer install which would probably run you around ~$300 for parts/labor.

As for the door, sounds as though you have wiring issues. Again, unless you're handy with such, you're looking at labor costs upward of ~$150 for the stealer (dealer) to look at it. You may get away with it for cheaper, but most dealers have a minimum to charge for electrical work.

Try to find a friend or a friend of a friend that could do these repairs. They are mainly time consuming but do require knowledge of wiring and electrical operations.
