If you are more into movies rather than heavy gaming, you do not need an SLI motherboard. You could opt for the other Asus M2N motherboards.
Since you will use Vista, consider a DX10 card such as the 8600GT. It has Nvidia's PureVideoHD and gaming performance better than a 7600GT. Also, it won't stress your power supply since it draws less than 50watts. The X1900GT is a 75watter.

Everything looks good for what you are interested in doing. If you want some performance with longevity, look into some RAM that is faster than 533mhz. Other than that, a second disc drive will make burning and copying easier, as DVD_RW drives are not designed primarily to read discs and wear out easier if they read a lot.
Also, building it yourself will save quite a but of money, especially on high performance parts.

It's good. It should serve you well during the next few years. Just make sure the refresh rate of the monitor is low otherwise you may problems watching movies. I am an Intel man myself but I LOVE Asus boards.

Oh give me a BREAK. You will find this system will cost you about TWICE what you can have DELL build it for... you can't build a PC as cheaply as you can buy one ready made... has to do with the economy of scale.

It looks good to me. The only thing I might suggest is a second disc drive to make it easier to copy things.

Hi Build it! No PC that you just buy will make you as proud as the one you build yourself.
