I'm a Republican, and I've watched all the debates from both parties. And so far, the sad conclusion I've reached is that Joe Biden is the ONLY candidate from either side that gives heartfelt, straight-up answers to a question! I don't often agree with his positions, but at least you know where he stands on things because he doesn't talk in sound bites. Grrr! What's your take on the debates so far? Who has stood out in your mind?

Zee Hatman. What a bonehead answer you gave. I do agree that Huckabee also seems to give real answers, but I just don't know how I can vote for someone who thinks evolution is a fantasy. It makes me question their intelligence. If I hear McCain spout his "I will make them famous" soundbite one more time, I'm gonna hurl.

Alias Smith: You seem like you would definitely pass the "beer" test with me! I don't say that about too many Dems!

Romney is just too "slick" for me. He looks like he should be wearing white vinyl shoes, selling used cars somewhere.
McCain frustrates me because I'm totally on board with him on the issues of abortion, Iraq, and government spending, but I can't STAND his positions on immigration and finance reform.

I don't really agree. I think a lot of the so-called "second tier" candidates give heartfelt answers. It's just that the press is so busy focusing on the big-name candidate with the canned answers that we never hear them. The CNN Republican debate last night was a perfect example. When people really wanted to talk about an issue, CNN cut them off and turned back to Giuliani again.
But clearly, Ron Paul speaks from the heart. He wouldn't say the things he does unless he meant them. I think Tom Tancredo also is saying exactly what he believes, and even though I disagree sometimes, Duncan Hunter sounds like he believes what he's saying. Even Mike Huckabee sounds somewhat legit. It's just the Rudy McRomneys and the similar soundbite kings on the democrat side that have nothing to say. If the press would get outta the way and let us hear the candidates before forcing us to pick one, I bet the polls would come out a LOT different. Wait until the vote in New Hampshire....I bet you'll see a surprise.

What makes me physically ill is the fact the person or persons with the most money to spend will probably win the nomination and then the election..this election has started way to early in the press and people will be so numb when the election day comes they will just vote for whoever has spent the most...Hilary or BO? all this debate and primacy's is just so much smoke and mirrors..we really will not have a choice in the Fall of "08...unless their is another 911 or the leading candidates do something really stupid or something is disclosed from their past.
Hilary has a record of digging up the dirt on her opponents and spends a ton of money on private investigate rs..
Washington..the best politicians money can buy

I vote Dem, and I too watch both parties' debates. On the Republican side, believe it or not, Huckabee makes good points, and I *definitely* disagree with much of his politics. I think Huckabee is sincere, purposeful, is able to connect on a very human, person-to-person level - on that "would I hang out with him" test, maybe he won't go for a beer but I'd have coffee or lunch with him. Another one I'm surprised Repubs aren't rallying to is Jim Gilmore. I would *hate* to see him become prez, but he seems to be for the Repubs what you say Biden is for Dems.
Now as for Biden, I agree with you about the other night. His strong statement and straightforward solution on Darfur was both passionate and practical and spoke to the best of American morality. I've been all over the board on who to support among the Dems (a happy choice for me), and Biden made me think hard about him again.

Vote for Pedro....lol....No, seriously, politics is basically choosing the person you think is the best liar. They all flip flop, they all get money from special interest groups, and all manners of ethically questionable things come to light when races heat up. Basically, I agree with Kurt Cobain, "Assassinate the greater and lesser of two evils."--I'm not advocating violence. I'm just saying choose neither. Only vote for a candidate who you truely believe in. Don't go with the party status-quo. Wait until someone moves you to vote, and once you are fully aware of their positions, only then should you vote. If you don't know, don't vote! Voting from ignorance is worse than not voting......Thanks for your time.

I beg to differ on the opinion of Romney. Romney is a great guy, I do not know him personally, but my boyfriend's brother works for him and Mitt treats him with great respect and as a friend. That's more than most candidates do for their employees.

Because I work nights I haven't been able to watch any of the debates. I read about them in the papers. If there are any decent candidates (from either party) I wish they would step forward because right now we have a choice between tweedle dum and tweedle dee. They might be from different parties but they all sound alike.

It's not about the person. It's about money and power. Hillary has both. Hillary will raise the $500 million needed to win and Obama and Edwards will not. Bill and Hillary have been made very, very wealthy by Republican hate. Bill now gets $250,000 for a 30 mins. speech and Hillary has two million seller books. Bill Gates and Oprah will back Hillary. Money and power.

I can't say who's been honest or heartfelt or not because politicians are great liars.
So far Giuliani has disgusted me once and I agree with Ron Paul the most.
I'm happy that Bush is leaving, but hopefully he won't be replaced by someone just as bad.

I have looked at Ron Paul's record and what he stands for. He has my vote.
I can't stomach to listen to Giuliani, McCain, or Romney. For the simple fact the the media is so persistant in shoving them down my throat.
If they are that sad that they need mainstream media to try and brainwash me into voting for them. I don't want them!
